Aesira Farren (Hex:14f3f3)
Shapeshifter - Corvus
In the time before time, when the world was new, a raven earned the favor of the gods. She traveled among mankind on her ebony wings as their emissary. Diligently she served as a guide to mankind, sharing her knowledge to bring about change for greater good. For her faithfulness, the gods bestowed their blessing and matriarch Senka became first of her line.
Generations came forth and with it the matriarch's mantle was passed down to the next. Her decedents proudly served as their ancestors had. All the while, the seeds of doubt grew in the hearts of mankind. The raven emissary fought valiantly to sway man from this wayward path, but in the end it was for naught as they turned their backs to the gods. When their mortal patrons abandoned them the gods fell to slumber with one final directive for their faithful messenger: She would remain. Should mankind ever find their senses, she would be called to service again and wake the gods. Tales at the fireside circulated, warning of the trickster raven. What once was a blessed messenger soon became the harbinger of ill omens and curses. The ravens would endure, but a new path would be foraged.
This path forward lead to the discovery of a clan who still honored the teaching of the old gods. Witches, they called themselves.. An alliance would be formed between the raven decedents and the covens. Until the old gods rise once again, the ravens would serve in partnership with the covens. Together they would become the guardians of the realm, sharing their knowledge and teachings. To this day, this is the way of the world. Aesira only hopes to do her ancestors proud the day she finally comes of age and is called upon..

Anari Rosai (Hex: 1979e6) Trudging down the gravel road the little girl pouted and kicked a stone from her path. Her auburn hair was hopelessly snarled and her clothing was caked in a crust of flaking dirt. “Stupid boys.” She whined as frustrated tears brimmed in her hazel eyes. “Stupid Rian!” She fussed as she wiped at her smudged face with scraped palms. Anari had been playing with the pair of brothers next door when their games had taken a rough turn. She didn’t even know what she had done wrong! One moment they were building golems from the clay from the lake and the next Rian was shoving her away. All she did was helped Kaniel put on his golem’s head, so what was problem?
“He didn’t need to yell at me.” She sniffled when her tears spilled free. Had he really meant what he said? That they couldn’t be friends anymore..? “Anari!” Called a voice trailing behind her. She gave a startled little gasp as she quickly dried her face. She wouldn’t be seen like this.. The gravel crunched underfoot as Kaniel caught up to her on the road. “Are you okay?” He asked, patting her shoulder.
Kaniel Talyessin was a sweet boy and just a couple of years older than she. He was silly with an endearing sense of humor and she was nothing short of smitten. She was sure that the fact that he was tall, dark, and easy on the eyes only added to his appeal. She was a shy girl, however, and couldn’t yet muster the nerve to give him her heart. She told herself that nothing else matter for as long as she could be his friend at least.
She spared him only a timid glance before she shrugged. “Yeah, I’ll be fine.” She said reluctantly with a sigh. “How are your hands?” He asked. She flinched and as she felt his own fingers brushed the back of her hand. When she dared to meet his green gaze, she saw the pity he held there for her. Her heart clenched in her chest as she swallowed around the lump in her throat. She couldn’t stand it when he looked at her like that. “Sorry,” She mumbled, “They sting a bit.” She admitted to him when she offered her scraped palms for him. She watched as his expression softened for her, but his brow remained knit with concern. “I’m sorry my brother was mean to you.” He said while he inspected her dirty hands. “Sana.” He whispered, kindly invoking a simple healing spell. His touch was so tender.. “Pathetic,” Scuffed a voice from behind, “Couldn’t make it home to mommy for your band aid?”
Anari cringed before sparing Rian only a glance. She shrank before his narrowed glare before she sheepishly pulled from Kaniel’s grasp. She didn’t dare glance at Kaniel as she awkwardly cleared her throat. Rian was Kaniel’s older brother, the named heir of the Talyessin family, and by no means her biggest fan. Lately, she didn’t like to play with Rian much. He had taken to teasing her relentlessly and pulling her hair when he could. Today she had made an exception and, well, she was beginning to regretted it.
“Leave her alone, Rian.” Kaniel said boldly, speaking up from her side. “She didn’t do anything wrong. You’re just being a jerk!” He added. Anxiously, Anari exchanged a glance between the two brothers as tensions mounted. “Is that so?” Rian challenged as he swaggered forward, squaring off with his brother. He cast his gaze down as he sighed, “She doesn’t need a hero..” He seethed. Lifting his gaze, Anari only caught the glint of magic in his eyes as Rian reached to clasp his brother’s shoulder. “Somnum.” He bid, invoking his underhanded spell. She was helpless to do anything as Kaniel crumpled to the gravel at her feet. She stared in shock as Rian knelt beside his brother’s unconscious form. “I’m just trying to protect you, Kaniel. You’ll understand one day..”
When Rian then turned that cold, crystalline blue gaze upon her she back stepped. “You’re ilk has no business fraternizing with us Talyessin’s and it’s time you learned your place.” He seethed at her. The venomous anger he confronted her with sent a bolt of fear to pierce her heart. “I-I thought we were friends.” She whispered as she clutched her hands to her chest. He appraised her with scrutiny as he rose to stand at his full height. He scuffed before he shook his head, “Friends? With a second rate kitchen witch like you..? I’d never stoop so low.” Her tears flowed freely, tracking through the grime on her face while she shook her head. “I’m not!” She insisted, “I can do better.” Rian arched an incredulous brow at her brave statement. He smirked, “Prove it.” He challenged with a cruel flash of his teeth as he crossed his arms over his chest. “Prove that you’re worthy of the magic in your veins and I’ll have to reconsider.”
Anari thought to balk before this bold challenge, but it was her pride that steeled her nerve. She let her gaze quietly fall from the face of her tormentor. As she wiped the tears from her cheeks she heard his bitter scuff. “Just what I thought..” Rian seethed at her. Her gaze focused upon Kaniel’s sleeping face as anger warmed her blood. She didn't deserve this and neither did he! How dare Rian continue to look down upon her in such a way. Although the Talyessin’s might predate the Rosai’s by a century, her family held just as much prestige as his. She was ever ounce as worthy of the magic she held as he was. “What do I have to do?” She asked, lifting her narrowed gaze. The smirk which spread across Rian’s face was as unsettling as the chuckle that followed. “Now that’s more like it.”
This fateful day would be Anari's ultimate demise. For rising to the bait of a childhood bully, she would earn the curse that would plague her for the rest of her natural life.

Serephina Amaris - (Hex: 129177)
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain."
Once upon a time.. There was a humble apothecary who made her living foraging the forest and providing services to the townsfolk. Her gardens grew plentiful with flowers, herbs, and the like. She was good, wise, and faithful with her care of the community. Her salves soothed wounds, coughs, and even eased the aches of the sore joints. She often served as midwife for the women when called upon too. She never asked for much in exchange aside from except her quite life. Those were dark times, however, and the superstitions of old fools eventually lead to her betrayal.
One late, stormy night a mob gathered at her cottage doorstep. The men of the village were armed with torch and pitchfork as they dragged Serephina from her bed. She watched her home burn as she was thrown into a cage and hauled into town. For a long list of ill gotten transgressions, she would be tried and executed for witchcraft that night. Much to the dismay and terror of the townsfolk, they would fail.. That night the town learned the wrath of a goddess, even a fallen one, would be catastrophic. She would stamp out any with memory of her and begin anew, just as she had for eons.
Years later, the children of the village are randomly going missing. The so called witch of the woods is spiriting children away from their parents in the night. The fearful whisper that these children lost: either they are eaten or sacrificed to the darkness. In truth, Serephina collects children from poor living situations or those she sees the seeds of magic in. She then raises these children well in the forest with her. Most forage their own way in the world and become pillars of change, leaving behind their quaint beginnings.. However, if the decision to return to the family or town is made, their memories of Serephina and her woodland cottage is blurred until forgotten.
