Part One - Elementary School Age
The first memory that Aiden had was of his parents playing hide and go seek with him and his sister in his mother's garden. His father, Brandon, was the seeker this time, and Aiden tried not to giggle as he walked past his hiding spot. Pretending to not see him amongst the vines and leaves, Brandon crept around to the other side of the plant before his hands darted in and caught the young boy by the waist to drag him out. Laughing, Aiden thrashed his legs as he was dragged from his hiding spot and Brandon promptly gave him a loud raspberry on his neck. In the midst of the excitement, the golden crown on his head fell to the ground. It was just a cheap plastic toy crown, bejeweled with fake rubies, but it was his favorite when they played dress up. Given how cheap the material was, it was a miracle the young boy hadn't broken it yet. But his luck soon ran out as the crown broke in half upon landing on the ground. As soon as Brandon put Aiden down, the little blonde boy's eyes started to tear up at the sight of his favorite toy broken at his feet. Mya was quick to come from her hiding spot nearby though, catching the boy's shoulder just as he was about to start wailing. "Hey! Mommy can fix it!" She said with a bright smile as she knelt down to his level. Aiden's bright blue-green eyes were a little puffy as he sniffled and looked to her. "Reawwy?" He asked, wiping his face quickly. Mya just giggled a bit as she picked up the toy crown. A small flash sparked as she connected the two pieces together and the crown became whole again. "There you go, my little prince..." Still smiling, she placed the repaired crown on top of his head and wiped a stray tear from his cheek. "See. Good as new." Smiling, Brandon knelt down to his level as well, and he kissed the boy's cheek. "You don't need a crown anyways. You're already a prince- OUR little prince." He stated matter-of-factly as Aiden began to smile again. "Hey! What about me!" Asked Helena as she stomped out of her hiding spot with her hands on her hips and a big pout. Brandon and Mya just laughed at the young girl and welcomed her into a group hug. "Every kingdom needs a beautiful princess too!" Brandon exclaimed. Slowly, a smile spread across Helena's face and she giggled. Giddy, Helena ran to their open arms and the two embraced their family in a tight hug...
It wasn't long after that when Mya and Brandon had sat Aiden down to tell him that he would be starting school soon. However, going to this school meant going to Heaven and leaving his family for the sake of education. The thought of living away from his family stung. A lot. But Mya told him stories about studying there as a young girl herself. Yes, she too had been homesick at first, but she reassured him of all the cool things he would learn while he was there and all the friends he would make along the way. So, even though he wasn't too confident in the idea, Aiden decided to give the school a try anyways. It also helped that they informed him that he would still get to spend the holidays with them and call anytime he wanted to talk to them.
When it came time for Aiden to move into the dorm at school, he cried as he hugged his sister and father goodbye. He didn't bring much with him, so Mya was able to take the one and only box with her and help Aiden settle in. Brandon wanted to go too, but he had hesitated at the thought because he knew that Heaven wasn't a place for a demon such as himself. Once he was all settled in, Aiden bid a tear-filled farewell to his mother as well. He was lucky that she was a legacy at the school because it meant that he got one of the few single rooms all to himself. But that also made it a little more lonely... And even though Brandon had tried to explain to Aiden why he hadn't come to his school to say goodbye, he didn't quite comprehend why at first. Even though the school touted it's 'equal opportunity for all races' as a badge of honor, most of the students were angels, and those that weren't were often looked down on or shunned. Aiden witnessed it on his very first day of school when he saw a group of angelic kids picking on a smaller child because he had a pair of horns. Seeing their behavior made Brandon's words click for Aiden, and he decided then and there to not tell anybody that he was part demon.
Thankfully, it didn't take long for Aiden to start making friends. When kids found out that he was a prince, he became popular rather quickly. Most just wanted to say they were friends with a prince to move up in their own social status, but there were a few that would help him study; A girl named Lavina and another boy named Kalaziel. The two became his closest friends, and over the course of their early school years, they were practically inseparable. Both were angels who didn't know Aiden's true heritage past his mother though, and he made sure to keep it that way. The three of them were some of the top students in the class with Aiden claiming number three in school overall. Now, doing so well in school and having friends, he felt like maybe this school wouldn't be as bad as he had thought...
